Media, Entertainment and Telecom

With the strongly increased internationalization of the media on the one hand, and the emergence of major media powers and consolidation on the other, the selling-off in individual formats, the sale, protection and infringement of rights – also with regard to the sports world and its enormous financial interests – the media and entertainment sector constitutes a billion-euro industry. In addition, the classical intellectual property law and the copyright have accelerated greatly over the past ten years as a result of the development of the Internet. Parties such as publishers (of books, magazines, music, film), who traditionally had a position of power, suddenly saw that position eroded by the effortless circulation and copy facilities the web offers. In the wake of these enormous interests, ever more complicated legal matters arise, both in civil and in tax law. Brada Abeln has a specialized multi-disciplinary media and entertainment team at its disposal, aiming at a large variety of media entrepreneurs, such as producers, broadcasting associations, new media, performing artists and distributors. An indispensable link in this game is formed by the telecom providers, because they not only play their part in the distribution of content, but also continuously are on the look-out to forge new alliances, which leads to transactions and other (business law) questions.
